St Katharine’s Secures Major Investment in School Safety and Learning Environment
St Katharine’s Knockholt is delighted to announce that it has secured £149,000 of funding through the Rochester Diocese to support a major programme of site improvements.
The investment – one of the most significant capital projects in recent years – will include:
- new perimeter fencing and gates
- a fully connected fire alarm system linking all four school buildings
- new fire doors
Work is expected to begin in July and continue throughout the summer holidays, ready to welcome children back in September – including the school’s newest Reception starters.
As a Voluntary Aided school, St Katharine’s is required to contribute 10% towards the project costs. Thanks to hard work and continued support of families, PTA fundraising events and generous community donations, the school is confident that it can make that contribution and help bring these important improvements to life.
Alongside these site improvements, using some of the funds raised by the PTA, the school is also investing in 15 new iPads. This will have a whole school impact on teaching and learning across curriculum, helping ensure children continue to benefit from engaging, modern classroom experiences.
Our Headteachers, Miss Tormey and Mrs Veneziani said:
“This is wonderful news for our whole school community. These projects will help improve our site and support children’s learning through new technology, creating an environment where children can thrive both inside and outside the classroom for many years to come. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported PTA events and fundraising activities over recent years. Improvements like this are only possible because of the continued support of our whole community.”
Mrs Mendham, chair of the PTA said:
“It is incredibly rewarding to see how every raffle ticket, disco, fair and community event can genuinely make a difference for the children. St Katharine’s has such a supportive school community and we are proud to help support projects that benefit both the safety and learning opportunities of all pupils.”
The project reflects St Katharine’s ongoing commitment to investing in both the wellbeing and future opportunities of its pupils – combining a nurturing village school environment with ambitious plans for the future.
At St Katharine’s, we remain proud to be a small school with a big heart – where community support continues to make a real difference to children’s lives and futures.
