Phonics and Spelling

In the Foundation stage the children begin learning letter sounds by working through the Letters and Sounds program. This is supplemented by Jolly Phonics as we have found that many children really benefit from the songs and actions included in this.

As they move into KS1 the children continue to work through the Letters and Sounds phases.

We are also using Sir Linkalot. It helps to teach those tricky common exception words. It is not solely for spelling it also covers other technical requirements of literacy, i.e vocabulary, homophones, punctuation, grammar, rules and patterns.
