Home Learning

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome to the Rabbit Class home learning page, which will be replacing my everyday interaction with your children for the near future. I am feeling rather sad as we were having such a fun and productive term. This is the time of year when the children really begin to thrive and their confidence begins to soar.

The aim is to maintain routine and continuity of learning for the group during these unsettling times. I will endeavour to upload core tasks and some optional activities to the page on a weekly basis. I hope to maintain close links with all of you via email. (See my address at the end of this page.) My plan is to try and deliver as much as the national curriculum as I can online.

Maths and English tasks should be completed over the week, whilst it is your choice of when in that week your child works on Topic/Science/Ict etc. Each household should work through the activities in a manner that suits them. I would suggest a set daily timetable to avoid arguments. I have spoken to the children about the importance of getting on with their work and reminded them that I will be monitoring on Purple Mash and requesting some pieces of written work by email eg A Story.

As you know reading is one of my areas of concern in Year Three, now that your children will be at home, it is up to you to ensure they progress. They will be expected to read for minimum 30 minutes a day. (2x15 minutes or 3x10 minutes) please record in diaries for future reference. Some of this should be with an adult as they no longer have a school adult to help. PLEASE also read stories to your children. We have arranged access to a scheme online for children who are still on a reading scheme.

Work will be set for all term dates, you will need to check through this in advance to print off sheets and resources. I am hoping your child will have access to glue, scissors, felt tips, even paint as learning should include an element of fun too.

Please do not hesitate to contact me during school hours if you have any queries with work. This is also very new to me so please be patient in the weeks ahead.

Wishing you and your loved ones good health and hope to see you all soon.
