Who is going to take the cup next year? Honey? Bumble? Mason? Carder?

Term 1 HOUSE POINTS

At St Katharine’s, our house names—Bumble, Carder, Mason and Honey—are inspired by our school motto and bees!
The Latin motto on the St Katharine’s logo reads, “Per laborem praemium – velut apis”.
The literal translation is, “Hard work brings reward – like the bee.”
Bees are small yet powerful creatures, known for their cooperation, and dedication to the collective good—qualities we strive to instil in every child. Just like bees in a hive, each child works both independently and together, contributing to the success of their house, flourishing not alone, but as part of a thriving, connected community.
House Points System – A Quick Rundown 🏆
What Are House Points?
House Points are rewards children earn for positive behaviour, hard work, good manners, teamwork, showing our school values and being an “always” person.
How Do They Work?
every child belongs to a House
Bumble (green)
Carder (yellow)
Honey (red)
Mason (blue)Siblings are always in the same house (otherwise sports day would be difficult for families cheering on their children!)
Staff award House Points individually or as a group.
Points are totalled weekly and announced in our collective worship on Fridays, which has a focus on celebrating all the good things that have gone on in school that week.
At the end of each term, the house with the most points wins the privilege of wearing their own clothes to school for the day!
Why have houses and house points?
Encourages friendly rivalry – we have regular inter-house competitions and on sports day, children compete for their house
Rewards effort and kindness and links to our Christian values of truth, love and forgiveness
Builds teamwork across year groups
Gives everyone a chance to shine
Rewards
At the end of each term, the house with the most points gets to wear their own clothes! The competition is fierce but fair!
