Hope you are all well and reading lots of different texts books, recipes, stories, instructions for games, Serial Mash books online

Purple Mash 2dos are optional unless I name one in the plans below.

Remember the BBC have set up lots of great lessons which can be checked on a weekly plan on this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons. These can help you with revision of grammar, maths or History that we have already covered in class.

Like previous weeks do not worry if you do not complete all the tasks, I know some children work faster than others. Note some tasks are optional which means you don’t have to do them.

This week’s reading assignment is to read Henry the Elephant which has 5 chapters. I have set Chapter 1 on 2dos so you can find it.

Then at end of Chapter 5 tasks I would like you to complete the book review

Task online.

If you find it difficult to read then at the end of each chapter complete the quiz section. This way I will be able to check that you are reading too, even though you do not complete book review within the time set-

Home School Booklet Journey to the Jungle p10-14

This week is all about planning a log and creating a booklet to write up your edited version. Focus on improving you sentences 

 

Session 1 p10 Draw your own jungle

maybe you have some books with jungle facts or pictures you could look at. Use Google images Jungle animals and plants to find some amazing images.

 

Session 2  p 11 log planner sheet to fill in 

Read log on p3 again or listen to recording.

Then plan your own log about a day in the jungle. Think about the setting, the climate (weather) what unique animal or plant you will find.

 

Session 3 Fronted adverbials add more information to the verb in a sentence

Write interesting sentences for your log p 12-13 + online assignment

·         Make sentences longer by adding and or but

Also complete Conjunctions Assignment on Treasure house

·        Use fronted adverbials just like session 3

Choose some sentences to explain why by adding because

 

Session 5 Create a booklet (Instructions p14)

Write up you log

Edit your sentences check you have written good sentences

·         add detail to your sentences by using and or but;

·         add explanation to your sentences using because;

·         use fronted adverbials like After that or because, to start some sentences;**

·         check your capital letters at the start of sentences, full stops at the end and commas after fronted adverbials.**

Some of the BBC lessons this week use your book so watch carefully

Session 1 Fractions as numbers p52-55 fraction on number lines this is a follow up to the BBC lesson https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zm8g47h   you did last week. So read questions on p52 1a and b and then read through p53 carefully. You should be able to answer Q1a and b now.

HE DENOMINATOR TELLS YOU HOW MANY EQUAL PARTS YOU NEED TO SPLIT THE AMOUNT (NUMBER) INTO. Watch the first 2 minutes of this video will help you with this lesson.         Then read through p60 Questions 1a and b then p61 which explains how to find answers.  Next work through p62 and 63.

FORCES AND MAGNETS

 This is the final Science unit for Year 3, it has lots of fun activities but you may need to ask an adult or a sibling to work with you sometimes.

I can identify and name the force acting upon an object

Task 1 Fill in the mind map to show what you already know. How many of these questions can you answer today? SCIENCE 1 FORCES AND MAGNETS MINDMAP SHEET

Task 2 Collect some everyday objects, e.g. toy vehicles, balls of different sizes and materials (e.g. ping pong, foam, tennis, beach, football), pull along toys, rubber bands, bulldog clips, beanbags, pencil case with zip, spectacle case, rulers, rubbers, scissors, calculators, screw top pots or bottles, coins, any other safe gadgets or tools.

Choose an object to roll, squeeze, kick, twist, bounce, catch, press, tug or brush

These are some of the ways that a force can move, or change the movement of an object that you have collected. Eg press down to bounce a ball, tug hard to pull out a weed.

Where I live Finding out about kent 3 week project

Make a colourful poster or booklet  with information about Kent-The Garden Of England

Describe its location (e.g. near to London, near to Europe)

Here are some ideas for what you could include:

  • A map or pictures.
  • Famous landmarks (White Cliffs of Dover, Hever Castle, Ashford Eurostar………..)
  • Famous people who have come from Kent
  • Where did they live? What did they do? E.g. Earl of Sandwich.
  • Write about some of the activities you can do in Kent. 
  • If you have got a favourite place you could just make a poster about it eg. Whitstable.
  • The History of Oast houses.
  • Land use farming, orchards, vineyards, and lots of towns and villages for all the people who live and work nearby. Why so many people in Kent?
